You've decided to celebrate the people by your sides on your wedding day - congratulations, excellent choice! But now, you've got to come up with some delightful ways to describe who they are and why they're great.
In this post you'll not only be guided with what to consider, but given witty and above all ready-made suggestions for each dot point. And if you scroll to the bottom of this post you can see real wedding party intros from actual weddings - for added inspiration!

Getting Started
Crafting these introductions is a collaborative effort. As the people who know them best, you provide the intel, and your marriage celebrant provides the finishing touches.
For each person, consider:
Their name (or nickname)
How you know them
Their claim(s) to fame
Added extra: if they are your best man, best lady, maid of honor, lady of honor, man of honor, etc.
Your answers can be a little cheeky, very heartfelt, or brutally honest.
Note: Do not overthink the claim to fame. It can honestly be something like “self-confessed chocoholic” or “sweetest person to walk the earth.”
Of course, if you’ve got something juicier, feel free to include it... that’s if you can handle the clapback in speeches later!
I’ve even had a few couples completely fabricate the claim to fame. Memorably, I proudly announced that the groom’s brother was a gifted musician with opera prowess. As I was saying this, a sea of laughter swarmed from the crowd, and the look on his face was pure confusion – the joke was on me! Well played!!! I will honor that in the name of fun!

Sometimes how you know someone is simple—they’re your sibling. Over the years, I’ve heard some creative phrasing. Here’s a list to help you out:
Sibling
Best Friend
Workmate
Friend/s From School
If you can’t think up a claim to fame for members of your wedding party, my suggestion is to circle back to their hobbies or traits. But if you’re still stumped, feel free to borrow one from the list:
"We can't thank Prue enough for suggesting to add in wedding party introductions to our ceremony. It completely broke the ice and set a fun, warm tone for the day... seeing their reactions - laughing, tearing up with emotion - was priceless! ...It was such a meaningful way to express how much they mean to us and to thank them for standing by our sides. Plus, it had all our guests laughing and instantly connected, knowing who they were and why they were so important to us." - India & Leon

From T & B’s wedding
T’s A-team includes her maid of honor and best friend from high school—Olivia. I’m told if you need something organized, she is the spreadsheet queen!
T's younger sis, who is often regarded as the more mature and responsible one—Lisa.
And soon-to-be official sister-in-law—Sandra. T and Sandra share a love of old skool R&B. Look out for that on the dancefloor later!
And cheering B on, we have the fastest decision maker and most impulsive guy you'll ever meet, B's brother and best man—Jake.
Nick, B's brother, yogi extraordinaire who has kindly taken a break from the search for his inner zen in Germany to be here.
And B's brother Sam, who was forced to retire from an otherwise unblemished footy career after breaking his ribs three times.
From M & A’s wedding
M’s A-team includes her bridesmaids Melissa and Kate. Melissa is M’s best friend from high school, who is also an amateur boxer—let’s just say, don’t get in her way if you’re queuing up in a taxi rank!
Then we have Kate, who M met through mutual friends later in life, and they just clicked. Kate loves a cocktail… But M warns, they often leave her a little worse for wear. Ease up on the cocktails tonight, Kate!
And standing by their mate A, we have Damien and Luke.
A met Damien through friends. Upon meeting, they instantly remembered playing each other in footy matches—Andrew dominated, of course.
And Luke, one of A’s lifelong friends. These two date back to kindergarten days, cheering with juice boxes and sharing Tonka trucks! Luke is also a Bundy Rum connoisseur—if there is such a thing?!
From B & D’s wedding
And of course, they love nothing more than having a good time with the people who are standing by them today—their partners in crime sometimes and moral compass at other times.
So, let’s take a minute to appreciate these people who are B and D’s biggest cheerleaders.
First, we have B’s sister, maid of honor, and certified bookworm—Kristen.
Then there’s their other sister, who is also B’s maid of honor and always the loudest one in the room—Mikaela.
Sara is D’s sister and the life of the party!
Then we have B’s best friend since primary school, Alana.
Jack is D’s brother and accident-prone best man.
Then we have one of D’s best friends from high school, with a golden smile—Nicholas.
Next is another high school mate, known for being the adventurous one of the bunch—it’s Jordan.
And last up is D’s friend since childhood, Hamish. Hamish is a lightweight!
